The mixer and the man

Anyone that loves to cook wants the best equipment. I have wanted a KitchenAid (KA) mixer for years, but for different reasons I never acquired one.

Life is a journey that takes us down many paths and we meet many new people. One of my newer paths is shooting.  Last spring I went to the 2010 NRA convention with Breda and Mike. I was blown away.  I got to meet so many great people. One of them was Newbuis.

We meet again over Labor Day at the NC II blogshoot, another first for me. Newbuis and his lovely wife had brought all the fixing for some of the best pizza I have every eaten. He did love to talk about food and so do I. We were discussing the dough and its ingredients, the topic of mixing it come up. That is when he found out I didn't have a KA.  He asked me if I would like to get one.  Well of course!  He said he had one to sell. I don't hesitate when a great bargain is offered.

About 3 weeks later Santa, the FedEx man, arrived with my KA. It's been on the counter ever since and I have blessed Newbuis every time I use it. He called to see if it had arrived and we chatted for a bit.  He even said he had eaten all the Thai pickles before he got home from the shoot.

Some people come and go through our lives, but others even when they are gone from this earth will stay with us forever in our memory.  The one thing I will always remember about Newbuis is his love for his wife.  How his eyes would light up when his soul mate was near.

Prayers to Linda and his family.
